Newly appointed UNIPORT deputy vice-chancellor is dead

Professor Andrew Efemini died on Saturday at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, 7 days after assuming office.

The cause of his death is not yet known.

Efemini’s appointment as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Uniport was confirmed on Wednesday.

A professor of philosophy of development, Efemini studied at the University of Calabar, University of Nigeria Nsukka and Virginia University.

The University of Port Harcourt has lost its newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Efemini.

Family sources who confirmed his death to the media on Saturday afternoon said he had been sick for a while.

Late Mr Efemini of the philosophy department is well-known in Rivers State for his good analysis on politics and development on radio. He is a believer and preacher of better Nigeria.
